Whittington Moor. Extract taken from the Ordnance Survey 25 inch plan of 1898. The former Webster School, is in the lower centre of the image on the right hand side of Sheffield Road. The Webster Schools transferred to the Derbyshire County Council Education Authority in December 1906, following the Education Act 1902. This school was formerly known as the Peter Webster School, named after the original benefactor of the Charity. It remained a school until 1967, thereafter it was known as the Peter Webster Centre, with the buildings re-purposed for a range of alternative uses, including council offices, a clinic and educational uses, with surplus space let to local business and charities. Following the sale by Derbyshire County Council in December 2024, it is now the Bluebank School, a private independent specialist school for pupils aged 11 to 16 that have a range of complex needs. It should be noted that Whittington Moor is to the right, (east), of Sheffield Road, and the area to the left, (west), is Newbold Moor and is part of Newbold Parish; the parish boundary is marked on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch plan as ‘C Channel’, i.e., centre of channel to the left hand kerb.
