We’re Recruiting
The Charity has vacancies for three Trustees, or Governors and a Secretary. The Trustees, or Governors are responsible for controlling the work, management, and administration of the Charity. We are all volunteers, none of the Governors receive any remuneration, payments, or benefits from the Charity, save for legitimate expenses incurred in the running of the Charity.
Candidates
Candidates for the positions of Governor or Secretary should be resident in the Chesterfield area, with an interest in promoting the work of the Charity, that of providing grants to young people from the parish of Whittington going on from school to study a full-time course in the sixth form, at college or university. The Charity may also from time to time make one-off grants to schools within the parish of Whittington, or those outside the parish which are attended by students, resident within the parish of Whittington.
The candidate for the position of Secretary should be reasonably ‘computerate’. The minutes of meetings, agendas and other documents are produced in Microsoft Word and converted to PDF for circulation by email to the Governors and other organisations as and when required. We also use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for collating and processing student grant applications.
Appointment
We normally meet once a year at the end of October, to review the accounts, property leases, grant applications, and award the current year’s grants to eligible students.
Successful candidates for the positions of Governor and/or Secretary will be invited to attend our annual meeting in October 2025, and to sign the Governor’s Declaration and take up their appointment.
